“Veiled-Unveiled” speaks of concealment and exposure - of an awakening to something previously obscured. It suggests new, surprising revelations of the past and offers prospects of a future yet to come. Culturally and historically the veil has been interwoven with the feminine. The veil is an ancient symbol of dignity, chastity and virginity. It has come to symbolize religious identity and repression in today’s society. Veiled-Unveiled is a fascinating theme that nine women artists have explored through art that begs for deeper understanding of multiple issues.
