AARP Free Tax Preparation

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, in partnership with the IRS, is providing free Federal and California 2024 income tax preparation including free e-file at the Goleta Community Center, 5679 Hollister Ave, on Fridays from 9-12 and 1-4 and at the United Way of Santa Barbara, 320 E. Gutierrez, on Tuesday & Wednesday afternoons from 1-4. Season begins January 31, 2025 and ends April 15, 2025. No appointments, walk-in only and must arrive at least an hour before close.
Returns are prepared by IRS certified tax counselors for taxpayers with wages, interest, dividends, capital gains, unemployment, pensions, social security, IRA and 401-K distributions as well as filing for various tax credits.
Returns that are complex and take more than an hour to complete are out of scope and include rental property, complex self-employment and K-1 forms.
Taxpayers must bring photo identification for all persons on the return as well as social security cards and last year's tax return along with 2024 tax documents they have received (W-2, 1099 etc)
