AARP foundation, in partnership with the IRS, is providing free federal and California income tax preparation including free e-file service. Preparation site for the Goleta Community Center (5679 Hollister Ave) is behind the main building at the senior center from 9-noon and from 1-4
Last appointment at both locations is at 3pm. Fri.: 9am-noon and 1-4pm. Goleta Valley Community Center, 5679 Hollister Ave., Goleta (Through April 12); Tue.-Wed.: 1-4pm. United Way of Santa Barbara County, 320 E. Gutierrez St. (Through April 10).
Returns can be prepared for taxpayers with wages, interest, dividends, capital gains, unemployment, pensions, social security, IRA and 401-K distributions as well as filing for various tax credits.
Returns that are complex and take more than an hour to complete are out of scope including rental property, complex self-employment and K-1 partnerships.
All appointments are on a first come first serve basis. Taxpayers need to bring photo identification, social security cards and last year's tax return along with 2023 tax documents they have received (W-2, 1099 etc)
