Walk through the Norton Gallery at the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (2nd floor El Paseo) with artist Tama Takahashi. Her solo show "Memories of Barbed Wire: Resilience in the Japanese American Community" explores the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII.
The artist's family was held in the Minidoka, ID concentration camp. Through large-scale photographs printed on vellum, a video installation, and two sculptural pieces--including an interactive one where viewers can leave a message of peace--the story of the camp experience is explored.
Free. Starts at 1 pm for approximately 45 minutes.
