Join us for the first collaboration between Barbareño and Ojai Valley Brewery! Enjoy a 4 course, family style meal specially paired with complementary beers. Learn about and taste the herbs that are local to Ojai as Lanny Kaufer, a local expert, speaks about them during the dinner. The event will be held on OVB’s cozy outdoor patio and includes live music!

Course 1:

Local halibut ceviche with nopales, prickly pear, fennel aguachile

Paired with

East End Fruit Ale

Belgian Stong Golden Ale infused with Prickly Pear and Hibiscus. This beer is not a sour, it is tart because of the hibiscus. Medium body with dry finish, and just enough sweetness to highlight the prickly pears.

7.2% ABV

Course 2:

Acorn tamales, local mushroom, nasturtium-pistachio mole verde, toasted chia seed

Paired with

Chaparral Sage Amber Ale

Amber Ale (close to ESB) brewed with wild foraged black sage, white sage, and purple sage. the sage flavor is subtle on purpose to make it highly drinkable without being overwhelming. Bittered with Noble Hops.

6% ABV

Course 3:

Oak smoked rabbit with elderberry glaze, pickled mustard seed, barbecued carrots

Paired with

Sugarbush Sumac Ojai Pale Ale (IPA)

Hop forward Pale Ale with Wild Sumac.It is basically an IPA but slightly less bitter, and with the addition of lemony sumac berries. Sugar Bush is the name of the Sumac that grows locally here in Ojai. We use all American Hops in this and all of our beers. The hops in this beer are Warrior, Simcoe, and Mosaic. Light body, Dry Finish.

Course 4:

Pinyon cake with pine needle cream and candied pine nuts

Paired with

White Gruit Hopless Beer

Traditional Pre Purity Law Ale brewed with wheat, Honey, Lemon, Yarrow and Mugwort. This beer is completely hopless, relying on the yarrow and mugwort for a balanced bitterness.
