This summer, Babcock Winery welcomes guests for a gathering where wine, art, music, and community meet.
Join us on Sunday, July 26 to celebrate the release of Babcock Wines limited-edition Brut Nature featuring original artwork by Artist-in-Residence Lou Schad of Dirty Folk and an immersive experience of the landscape that informs both the wine and the artwork.
Set among the rolling hills of the Santa Ynez Valley, the day will include live music from Sage City, Chef Michael's freshly prepared gourmet lunch, vintage finds from Lisa Babcock Vault,
Alongside the release, guests are invited to experience Lou Schad’s work in person through a display of recent paintings and a live painting session unfolding throughout the day (beginning at noon). As part of her residency, Schad will also present new work inspired by the upper pastures, where wild mustangs graze as part of Babcock’s regenerative farming landscape—an ongoing reminder of the relationship between land stewardship, wildness, and renewal.
Join us at the vineyard to taste, see, and experience the Santa Ynez Valley through multiple senses, where wine and art emerge as two expressions of the same terrain.

About the artist, Lou Schad:

Wine begins as a conversation with place, terroir. Soil, weather, season, and the patient work of cultivation find their way into every bottle. Lou Schad’s artwork begins in much the same way—through close observation of botanicals, shifting seasons, and the delicate balance between what is tended and what grows wild. Equally central to her practice is the experience of transformation as it unfolds, whether on a vineyard, in her studio, or at a communal table. Schad’s work is a continued investigation of how the landscape acts as a material, method and collaborator.
