El Corazón de Goleta Mural Dedication Ceremony

Goleta Valley Commnity Center (GVCC) is proud to announce the dedication ceremony marking the completion of a 230-ft outdoor mural entitled, El Corazón de Goleta (The Heart of Goleta). Spearheaded by GVCC, this first major public art project in Old Town Goleta was painted by more than a dozen volunteer high school students under the direction of local artist and muralist Barbara Eberhart. The newly-completed mural will be dedicated to the public to serve as an icon of pride and enjoyment for everyone who lives, works, or shops in the Old Town Goleta corridor.

The ceremony will honor the student artists, art director, and donors who contributed to the project. Grant funding was provided by The Santa Barbara County Arts Commission, City of Goleta, and the County of Santa Barbara. Following the ceremony children can take photos with the giant butterfly wings that are painted on the mural.

GVCC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that operates the Community Center in Old Town Goleta. Locals consider the Community Center to be the heart of old town, and their venue of choice for important family and social events such as weddings, burthdays, quinceañeras, graduations and baptisms.
