All Saints By The Sea Episcopal Church will be holding a Sex Trafficing Awareness Forum on Sunday, July 19th starting at 12:00pm at our church located at 84 Eucalyptus Lane in Montecito. This event will be open to the public and is intended to educate and engage our community around this important and often misunderstood issue in our commuity.
We are honored to have two key players in combating sex trafficking in Santa Barbara at the forum.
Sally Cook, a Director of Olive Crest - Santa Barbara, will provide an overview of what sex trafficking is, how it impacts vulnerable populations, and how to identify warning signs. Olive Crest - Santa Barbara primarily operates a specialized treatment center dedicated to the restoration and healing of minor girls who are survivors of sex trafficking.
We will also be joined by a representative from the Santa Barbara District Attorney's Office who will highlight how sex trafficking is being addressed and combated in Santa Barbara County.
We will conclude the forum with a discussion led by members of Pedal The Pacific, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds to fight sex trafficking. Their team of young women will be stopping in Santa Barbara as part of their 1,700-mile cycling journey from Seattle to San Diego. They will share insights from their mission and experiences on the road.
