In-Person: Watercolor Mermaids: Lisa Dov Pop-Up

The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) Store and watercolorist Lisa Dov will present a Pop-Up Art Show & Sale of Lisa's work on two Sundays--December 5 and December 19, 2021--from 10 am-5 pm on the museum’s patio overlooking the Harbor. Lisa's work celebrates the Museum’s current mermaids exhibit, which runs until March 31, 2022

Growing up in Sherman Oaks and Beverly Hills, Lisa always wanted to create things and loved to draw and paint. She earned an associate degree in fashion design and studied watercolor at Brentwood Art Center. As Lisa says, “For me drawing and painting are a form of meditation. I love painting portraits as well as botanicals, seascapes, and animals.” She also enjoys Art Nouveau and ancient Japanese prints, hints of which appear in her work. Lisa’s images are dreamlike and clearly demonstrate her fascination with mermaids and other maritime images.

Since 2000, the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum has featured many artifacts and stories to share the history of the Santa Barbara Channel with more than 40,000 visitors annually and provides year-round experiential maritime history and marine science education for local youth. Featuring the impressive First-Order Fresnel Lighthouse Lens from Point Conception, SBMM's current exhibits explore The History of Oil in the Santa Barbara Channel, Honda Disaster, Mermaids: Visualizing the Myths & Legends – Photography by Ralph A. Clevenger & Friends, and Wives and Daughters: Keepers of the Light.

SBMM is located at the historic Santa Barbara Harbor at 113 Harbor Way, Suite 190, Santa Barbara, CA 93109. Visit sbmm.org or call (805) 962-8404 for details.
