Ojai Chorus Concert, "Song of the Shepherd"

In its Winter Concert, “Song of the Shepherd,” the Ojai Community Chorus, directed by Connie Woodson, will present selections from the powerful and moving oratorio, “Considering Matthew Shepard.”

Also on the program will be a broad spectrum of holiday music and selections from Handel’s “Messiah,” with the magnificent “Hallelujah Chorus” concluding the first act.

The concert will provide joy, fun, and opportunities for deep reflection. The oratorio tells the story of a young man who, in October 1998 in Wyoming, lost his life at the hands of two men because he was gay. This event sparked national attention and resulted in galvanizing the civil rights movement for the LGBTQ community.
