Drawing on her fieldwork, she explores how biological differences interact with cultural expectations to shape male and female identities, arguing that while certain biological realities exist, social and cultural norms are the primary determinants of behavior and temperament. The book concludes with a critique of American gender dynamics, proposing that each gender has distinct "superiorities" and that a lasting "sexual peace" requires understanding and respecting these cultural constructions.
