This show is a tribute to the father, artist, mentor and friend, Ron Robertson. Ron was a Renaissance man known for his humor, warmth, art and teaching career at the Santa Barbara Art Institute, UCSB, and Santa Barbara City College.
The idea for this show geminated after Ron’s passing in October 2022. His daughters Sarah Robertson Palmer and Edie Robertson offered me a cache of Ron’s unfinished work to be used by my students in their art classes. Afterwards, I took that thoughtful intent a step further to have fellow friends and artists engage in a collaboration of sorts using the unfinished works as a starting point for a tribute to Ron’s legacy. These are the fruits of love and friendship from Ron’s orbit.
