Slingshot was founded in 2013 to create a dedicated art center for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), living in Santa Barbara County. The program maintains that art is an accessible means for all to communicate and contribute meaninfully to our society and exists to advance the inclusion, visibility, and recognition of artists with IDD within our local community and the broader field of contemporary art. Slingshot / Alpha Art Studio is operated by Alpha Resource Center of Santa Barbara, a 501c-3 nonprofit organization.
