Summer Solstice Medicine Wheel

The Medicine Wheel has always been a way for ancient peoples to tune into the energy of the coming season. It is also the time when the Mayan people do a fire ceremony to celebrate the longest day of the year. Honoring the North and Central Americans indigenous traditions, Abby Haydon will open the Medicine Wheel in the traditional way of smudging and calling in the directions with tobacco offering and songs. Then we will offer prayers and intentions for this period.

On the Mayan calendar June 21st falls into the day sign of One Seed. This is an auspicious day for a new season to start. Seed represents the energy of the South and Summer. This is a good day to offer your intentions for new undertakings and beginnings.
