Surfrider Santa Barbara General Meeting.

Join Surfrider Foundation Santa Barbara chapter on Thursday Feb 20 at 7 PM at the Watershed Resource Center at Hendry's beach for a fascinating look into California's efforts at coastal preservation, and meet interesting fellow surfers and environmental activists.

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Charles Lester, the former Executive Director of the California Coastal Commission who was fired under suspicious circumstances despite enormous public support. He is now Director, Ocean and Coastal Policy Center, Marine Sciences Institute, UCSB. Dr. Lester will reflect on California's original vision for coastal management as it was laid out in 1972 by the Coastal Initiative, and discuss some of the core challenges now facing the state. He'll answer questions after the talk.

As always, the meeting is free and open to all and there will be pizza and light refreshments.
