The Future That Never Came Art show at the CAW

Retro-futurism is alive and well the week of September 15 through the 23rd at the CAW -Community Arts Workshop with the art show, The Future That Never Came. This is a group show in which eight assemblage and collage artists explore the show’s theme of Retro-futurism... . Characterized by a blend of old-fashioned "retro styles" with futuristic technology, retro-futurism explores the themes of tension between past and future, and between the alienating and empowering effects of technology.

Sounds somewhat heady, it isn't really... did you grow up watching Star Trek or The Jetsons then you are already familiar with retro-futurism. According to Wikipedia," if futurism is sometimes called a "science" bent on anticipating what will come, retro-futurism is the remembering of that anticipation."
Artist organizer, Sue Van Horsen, has brought together some of Santa Barbara's most well known and established collage and assemblage artists for a week long show at the Community Arts Workshop Gallery.

This show will feature artwork by: Adrienne De Guevara, Dan Levin, Michael Long, Jami Nielsen, Norm Reed, Dug Uyesaka, Frank Whipple and Sue Van Horsen.
