Gensheimer, Associate Professor of Roman Art & Archaeology at the University of Maryland, sponsored by the Archaeological Institute of America and the Classics and History Departments at UCSB, will examine the reasons for baths' popularity in ancient Rome on the part of a diverse audience: elite and non-elite, male and female, free and enslaved.
