Shirley Mae Duckett
January 27, 1935 – May 14, 2026

Shirley Mae Duckett 91, of Lompoc, formerly of Buellton, passed away peacefully in her sleep May 14, 2026. She was born January 27, 1935, to Luther and Mabel Chamness in Richmond, IN. Though she was raised in Indiana, she resided in the Santa Barbara area for more than 30 years before retiring and moving back to Indiana with her husband. After his passing, she returned to California residing in Buellton, then Lompoc, till her passing.
She raised 5 children while working in many different professions. She was an avid bowler for many years, crocheted afghans, baby blankets, and sweater sets for all of her family and friends. Her language of love was cooking; no one left her home hungry. Whether you were a stranger walking into her home for the first time or beloved family and friends, you were greeted with a big smile and open arms. All of her children's friends were considered family and treated as such. She was the first to show up in times of need and the last to leave, always providing love and support. She will be missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Donald L. Duckett (Louie), daughter, Jamaine R. Duckett. 4 brothers, Charles Tucker Sr., Carl Shook, Robert Shook and Robert L. Chamness, 1 sister Marilyn Mullaney. Son-in-law Donald B. Smith Jr. (Smitty) and great grandson Oliver Foster.

Smith of Fountain City, IN, 9 Beloved grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and one special niece, Lori Caldwell of Lompoc, CA.
