SANTA BARBARA, Calif., December 26, 2025 - Santa Barbara County District Attorney John T. Savrnoch announced today that Ashlee Buzzard of Lompoc, California, was arraigned on the felony complaint filed on December 24, 2025, in front of The Honorable Judge McGregor in Santa Maria Department 9.

Ms. Buzzard entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of murder, and denied all special allegations including that the murder was committed by means of lying in wait. District Attorney Savrnoch has elected not to seek the death penalty in this case; however, the District Attorney’s Office will seek the alternative punishment of life without the possibility of parole.

The case was assigned to Department 1 of the Superior Court in Lompoc. The next court date will be January 7, 2026, for preliminary hearing setting in front of The Honorable Judge Dunkle. Ms. Buzzard remains held without bail.
