A husband and wife’s silver S.U.V. slid down the hillside off of Harris Grade Road in Lompoc on Friday morning, leaving the husband with minor to moderate injuries.
Two engines from Santa Barbara County Fire and the Battalion Chief, as well as AMR (American Medial Response) paramedics and Buellton CHP officials, arrived at 8:18 a.m. to the summit of the rural road. In the single vehicle accident, the couple’s S.U.V. had slid “approximately 40 to 50 feet” down the hillside, said county Fire Captain and spokesperson David Zaniboni.
The husband, estimated to be in his mid-50s, was rescued via firefighters’ stokes basket, which carried him up the hillside to the road. He “complained of minor to moderate injuries,” according to Zaniboni, and was transported in an ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria. The wife was not injured.
