Montecito Manhunt Underway for Third Suspect

[Update] Third suspect apprehended Thursday afternoon; police have been searching since Wednesday evening for burglary suspects.

[Update: July 20, 2018, 10:30 a.m.] After a car was reported stolen and a collision occurred, the third suspect in a burglary reported on Santa Elena Lane Wednesday night was arrested Thursday afternoon. Davion Dwyann Jones, 33, was nabbed after a foot race with police near Butterfly Lane and Channel Drive.

The stolen car report was on the 1100 block of Coast Village Road, a block from where the suspects had been last seen. Santa Barbara Police, California Highway Patrol, and Sheriff's deputies responded. The car accident, in which no one was hurt, occurred near Butterfly Beach. Jones, who is from Compton, was found to be driving on a suspended license, the Sheriff's Office report stated. He had three warrants, including one for residential burglary in San Diego County. He was booked without bail on felony first-degree burglary, resisting arrest, and felony false impersonation.

[Update: July 19, 2018, 2 p.m.] After the victim called 9-1-1, she hid inside her home. Suspects broke into her residence and fled after coming across her. As the suspects ran through the front door, they encountered Sheriff's deputies. One deputy reported seeing a suspect pointing what appeared to be a handgun at him and fired a single round from his service weapon. There is no evidence indicating the suspects were injured. The deputy who fired his weapon was uninjured. The woman in the residence was also unharmed.
