The sounds of "Pomp and Circumstance" echoed across Santa Barbara and Goleta on Wednesday, marking the conclusion of the academic year with four high school graduation ceremonies.

A total of 1,454 students officially earned their diplomas from Santa Barbara Unified high schools this week, stepping forward into their next chapters.

The celebrations kicked off on Wednesday afternoon for La Cuesta Continuation and Alta Vista Alternative High Schools. Family and friends gathered at the iconic Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Gardens to watch their graduates take the stage.

The momentum carried into Wednesday evening with ceremonies honoring graduates across Santa Barbara, San Marcos, and Dos Pueblos High Schools.

The Class of 2026 leaves behind a legacy of academic excellence and community impact, highlighted by these notable achievements:

  • Seal of Bilteracy: 241
  • Golden State Seal Merit Diploma: 700
  • CTE Pathway Completers: 736

“The Class of 2026 has done far more than reach graduation; they have demonstrated what is possible when hard work, perseverance, and a caring community come together," said Dr. Hilda Maldonado, Superintendent of Santa Barbara Unified School District. "Each diploma represents a unique journey, shaped by the support of families, educators, staff, and classmates. I am inspired by their resilience, proud of their accomplishments, and inspired to see how they will use their talents, voices, and experiences to make the world a better place.”

The week's celebrations extended beyond high school campuses. Over the past several days, vibrant promotion ceremonies were also held at the district's junior high and elementary schools, marking meaningful milestones for students at every step of their educational journey.
