With summer now officially in full swing, it’s time to get serious about getting silly! You really need to ask yourself: Who has the juiciest beats? Where are all the fly honeys and swanky gentlemen congregating? And have I taken a shower today? Lucky for you, all of these answers lie with one artist and one night alone: Goldroom. Take another shower for good measure, you’re going to sweating on the dance floor, you party animal.
On Sunday, July 17, Goldroom will be dropping sweet tropical beats at SOhO Restaurant & Music Club. Goldroom’s uplifting music will make your head bob like a crash test dummy, inspire romance like Casanova, and basically provide sex on the beach (literal or the colorful drink) in the form of awesome musical arrangements. The artist has cut his teeth with electronic music stunners such as Niki & The Dove, Atlas Genius, Alpine, Poolside, and Gigamesh. Josh Legg is the man behind the Goldroom name, and he is just finishing off a national tour with one of his favorite stops, our beachside city of Santa Barbara. His newest album, Verano, is full of creative material that will induce chromesthesia into its listeners. I spoke with him about sailing, the DJ lifestyle, and his philosophies.
So have you played up in Santa Barbara before? I love Santa Barbara, I’m very excited for this show specifically. When I was at USC, I spent a lot of time sailing at UCSB. I was on the varsity sailing team and we spent a lot of time up there, on the water and having a good time up there.
