Vandenberg Tests Unarmed Nuke

The missile was launched Saturday to the Kwajalein Atoll area.

Vandenberg Air Force Base launched an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile over 4,000 miles to a test range near the Kwajalein Atoll — the western Pacific Marshall Islands where sits the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site — at 11:34 p.m. on Saturday. “This specific test will provide accuracy and reliability data that is essential to ongoing and future modifications to the weapon system,” said base commander Colonel J. Christopher Moss in a press release announcing the launch.
